Major improvements on way for road in Rutherglen
Published: Wednesday 2 July 2025

Improvement works are to be carried out on a road in Rutherglen from next week.
The works on Calderwood Road will see the carriageway resurfaced and will take place across two phases.
The first phase will take place from Monday 7 July to Friday 11 July and will result in the closure of Calderwood Road from Woodside Avenue to Limeside Avenue.
The second phase will take place from Monday 14 July to Friday 18 July and will see Calderwood Road closed from Limeside Avenue to Greystone Avenue.
During both phases there will be a signed diversion route through Calderwood Road, Dryburgh Avenue, Stonelaw Road and Greystone Avenue.
Head of Roads, Transportation and Fleet Services, Colin Park, said: “We apologise in advance for any inconvenience these works may cause to road users.
“We would request that all road users allow additional time for all journeys which involve the use of Calderwood Road, Rutherglen during the times indicated and that they plan their routes accordingly.
“We are sure residents will appreciate the long-term benefits of the improvements when the final phase has been completed.”
The works have been scheduled to take place during the school summer holidays to minimise disruption and reduce congestion, particularly with Stonelaw High School situated within the working area.
